Lewis Sun was appointed Global Head of Digital Currencies, Corporate and Institutional Banking (CIB), HSBC in May 2026. He provides strategic leadership for Digital Assets and Currencies initiatives within Global Payments Solutions (GPS), with end-to-end accountability for strategy, client proposition, technology and risk, partnering with teams across HSBC.

Mr Sun has held a range of payments and cash management roles in China and Hong Kong since joining HSBC in 2002, including Head of Sales for GPS in China and Head of GPS China.

In August 2017, Mr Sun was appointed Regional Head of Product for GPS, based in Hong Kong. Leveraging his technical expertise and deep understanding of market trends, he assumed the role of Global Head of Domestic and Emerging Payments for GPS in April 2022.

Mr Sun holds a Master’s degree in Electronics Engineering and an International MBA from Tsinghua University, as well as a Certificate in International Cash Management from the Association of Corporate Treasurers (UK).
