Ciarán McGonagle is Founder and CEO of Inveena, a technology company developing neuro-symbolic AI for legal, regulatory and financial-market applications.
Through McGonagle Advisory, he also advises financial institutions, market infrastructure providers and technology firms on AI, computable contracts, derivatives standards, digital assets and next-generation market infrastructure. He serves as an Executive-in-Residence at Global Digital Finance and contributes to UKAI’s legal work on AI explainability.
Ciarán previously held senior roles at ISDA, Deutsche Bank, Morgan Stanley and Tokenovate. At ISDA, he helped lead the development of industry standards for smart derivatives contracts, digital assets and the Common Domain Model (CDM). His work focuses on translating complex legal and market structures into computable models, executable workflows and financial infrastructure.
He has been recognised in The Lawyer Hot 100 and has published extensively on smart contracts, digital assets and computational law, including in the MIT Computational Law Report and the Journal of International Banking and Financial Law.
Ciarán also chairs the FINOS CDM Tokenization Working Group and serves on the LexisNexis Banking and Finance Consulting Editorial Board.
